Insulet announces Omnipod 5 integration with Dexcom G7 15 Day, expanding CGM choice and extending wear time for adults –
Adult Omnipod 5 users in the US now able to use the Dexcom G7 sensor with 50% longer wear time
Insulet announced this morning that Omnipod 5 is immediately compatible with Dexcom’s new G7 15 Day CGM, for adults (18+), which launched December 1 in the US. This aligns with expectations set during Insulet’s 3Q25 call and Dexcom’s update last month that Omnipod 5 compatibility would be ready at the G7 15 Day launch (which was slated for December 1, 2025). The update ensures continuity of care for current adult Omnipod 5 users who have been using the system with the 10-day G7 since that compatibility launched in June 2024. The new sensor’s 15.5-day wear time (15 days plus a 12-hour grace period) reduces monthly sensor changes and simplifies supply logistics compared to the 10-day G6 and G7 sensors. G7 15 Day is initially available only through DME channels, with retail pharmacy access expected shortly after. We remain curious to see how the per-day price of the G7 15 Day sensor may shift relative to the current 10-day G7, as well as when Dexcom might submit the G7 15 Day to the FDA for use in children.
Omnipod 5 to integrate with all major US CGMs by 1H26
Insulet noted at its Investor Day on November 20 that it aims to make Omnipod 5 compatible with all major US CGMs by 1H26, a goal supported by today’s integration. The company now aims to accomplish this following the planned integration of Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus with Omnipod 5 in the first half of next year.
G7 15 Day launch comes with several existing G7 features and new basal insulin titration support
Adult Omnipod 5 users adopting the G7 15 Day will retain several existing G7 app features, including:
- Medication logging and simplified meal/activity tagging;
- Dexcom Clarity integration with glucose trend and variability reports;
- Remote data sharing; and
- Customizable alerting, including quiet-mode features and adjustable thresholds.
The primary change is its slightly extended wear time, approximately 55% longer use between insertions. In addition, Dexcom’s new Smart Basal feature, offering new software-based basal insulin titration support, is now available within the G7 15 Day mobile app.
Upcoming integrations for G7 15 Day
Dexcom shared last month that the G7 15 Day would also be compatible with Beta Bionics’ iLet at launch. Dexcom also reported that integration with Tandem’s t:slim X2 and Mobi pumps is expected at a later date.
