Insulet launches Omnipod 5 in four Middle East countries and introduces Omnipod Discover data platform  –

Omnipod 5 now available in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE for a total of 19 countries worldwide

Insulet announced today the commercial launch of Omnipod 5 for individuals with T1D aged two years and older in four Middle Eastern markets: (i) Saudi Arabia; (ii) Kuwait; (iii) Qatar; and (iv) the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With this launch, Omnipod 5 is now available in 19 countries globally, with Spain expected in 2026, followed by Greece and Croatia in 1H27. This launch reflects Insulet’s continued push into international markets, where the adoption of AID remains limited but is steadily accelerating.

Alongside this AID rollout, Insulet introduced Omnipod Discover, initially announced in late 2024 and currently in a limited market release in the US. The new web-based data analytics and reporting platform is designed to simplify diabetes data interpretation for users, caregivers, and healthcare providers. Insulet plans to expand Omnipod Discover beyond these initial markets over time.

Insulet continues its international expansion of Omnipod 5, targeting key markets

In Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the UAE, Omnipod 5 is compatible with the Dexcom G7 and Abbott FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus CGMs, while in Qatar, the system is currently compatible with Dexcom G7 only. The expansion reflects continued momentum for AID systems outside the US, where adoption remains relatively low. AID use continues to increase as reimbursement, clinician familiarity, and CGM use expand.

Market dynamics may support gradual AID uptake in the region

These launches occur in comparatively high-income markets with high private-pay capacity and growing government investment in chronic disease care, which may support faster uptake than in many OUS geographies. However, real-world access and adoption will most likely still depend on reimbursement, provider education, and technology access.

At Insulet’s Investor Day in November 2025, COO Mr. Eric Benjamin highlighted Canada, Australia, and the Middle East as increasingly meaningful growth contributors, with Saudi Arabia identified as a particularly high-potential market. Although current AID penetration in Saudi Arabia remains low (~5%), he noted that rising CGM adoption and a growing government focus on chronic disease management may support meaningful long-term Insulet revenue contribution from these markets. We also note the region’s high diabetes and obesity burden, which may translate to higher insulin requirements for some individuals and could influence Omnipod wear patterns and pump change frequency.

Omnipod Discover introduced as new data analytics and reporting platform

Insulet simultaneously introduced Omnipod Discover to the region, a retrospective data analytics and reporting platform designed to streamline the interpretation of glucose and insulin delivery data. In its current US limited market release, the web-based platform integrates information from the Omnipod 5 system and presents trends and actionable insights intended to support clinical decision-making and reduce data burden for both users and healthcare providers. Insulet plans to expand Omnipod Discover beyond these initial markets over time.

Close Concerns’ Questions

  1. How does Insulet expect AID adoption in the Middle East to compare to other recently launched OUS regions? Which international markets are now growing most rapidly?
  2. What is Insulet’s expected timeline for expanding Omnipod Discover beyond these initial markets?
  3. What share of Omnipod 5 starts does Insulet expect to come from public reimbursement versus private pay, and how might coverage differ across the regions?
  4. Given the region’s high diabetes and obesity burden, does Insulet anticipate higher insulin requirements on average? How will the company support users who may need more frequent Omnipod 5 changes?
  5. How does Insulet plan to expand Omnipod 5 use to T2D in these geographic regions?
