Insulet launches Omnipod 5 and Omnipod Discover in Spain, expanding its global reach to 26 countries –
Spain becomes the 20th country with Omnipod 5 availability
Insulet announced today that Omnipod 5 and Omnipod Discover will now be available in Spain. With more than 4.6 million people living with diabetes, including an estimated 189,000 people with T1D who rely on insulin, Spain represents a significant opportunity to expand access to AID technology across Europe. In Spain, the Omnipod 5 is currently indicated for individuals aged two years and older with T1D. The product has been approved for use with Abbott FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus and Dexcom G7 CGMs.
With this launch, Omnipod 5 is now available in 20 countries, with Greece and Croatia expected to follow in 1H27, while Insulet now sells Omnipod products in 26 countries worldwide.
Insulet strengthens European presence with Spanish launch
In February 2026, Insulet launched Omnipod 5 and Omnipod Discover in four Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Consistent with management’s previously announced expansion plans, the launch of Omnipod 5 in Spain is expected to be followed by launches in Greece and Croatia in 1H27.
Insulet’s rapid international expansion is reflected in its launch of Omnipod 5 across 15 countries over the past 18 months. The launch in Spain further strengthens Insulet’s European footprint and builds on its recent expansion across the Middle East.
Competition in Europe’s AID market continues to accelerate
Omnipod 5’s tubeless design differentiates it from the traditional tubed pumps offered by competitors such as Tandem and Medtronic. Additionally, compatibility with Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus and Dexcom G7 provides AID users with flexibility for CGM selection.
Earlier this month, Tandem announced that its t:slim X2 AID system is now compatible with Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus CGM across five European countries, further expanding CGM choice and intensifying competition in Europe’s AID market.
Omnipod Discover expands alongside Omnipod 5 to reduce diabetes data burden
First introduced in the Middle East earlier this year, Omnipod Discover is a web-based data analytics and reporting platform designed for Omnipod 5 users, healthcare providers, and caregivers. Through Omnipod Discover, diabetes data can be accessed through the web, providing a simplified platform for users and healthcare providers to review their data. Omnipod Discover transforms Omnipod 5 data into actionable trends and reports designed to help users better understand and manage their diabetes. Insulet aims to continue expanding Omnipod Discover alongside Omnipod 5 over the coming year.
